Enhancing English Listening Skills Using MP3
This study explored the effect of MP3-based learning program on EFL college students listening performance and examined the perceptions of participants concerning project concepts, the operation difficulties, the effectiveness and other considerations of this training program. One hundred and seventeen participants were recruited for this study. They were randomly assigned to one of two groups. The study employed a pretest/posttest comparison group design. After the six-month MP3 self-training, the questionnaires were administered to the experimental participants to elicit their perception on MP3 listening training. Results of the study indicated that students participating in MP3 training program demonstrated significant improvement when compared with those in the control group. The study revealed that MP3 was a cost-effective tool that could positively improve students’ listening ability.
