Independent Publishing of Online Teaching and Learning Resources
Education providers employ teachers to teach, not to produce products which can be on-sold and/or licensed by them without permission or remuneration. The creation of educational materials and resources is no different from any other creative and/or intellectual activity. Open source software such as Moodle and cheap web hosts like Dreamhost, make it possible for educators with relatively few web authoring skills or experience to independently provide online resources for learning and teaching, allowing employees of education providers who would like to own the intellectual property of their employees to bypass their employers' information technology departments and to retain control of their materials. The presentation will include a practical demonstration of the server and the software.
